Mary Lee Christman, daughter of Mortimer and Delma (Handke) Robinson, was born March 27, 1934, at Sioux City, IA. She entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, IA, at the age of 81.
Mary grew up in Sioux City and attended Central High. After high school, she continued to make her home in Sioux City. In 1960, she moved to Oto and four years later moved to Smithland.
In the late 60’s, Mary was united in marriage to Charles “Barney” Christman. She became a homemaker and helped on the farm. Barney died in 1988.
Over the years, Mary had worked at Zenith Corporation and then the grocery store in Mapleton. After her retirement, she helped care for her great grandchildren.
Mary loved her flowers, gardening, and feeding the birds and squirrels. Most of all, she enjoyed when family and friends came to visit at her house.
Mary is survived by one son, Rick Robinson and wife Lisa of Shelbyville, IN; two granddaughters: Ginger Robinson of Sioux City, IA and Jennifer Yingst and husband Shane of Whiting, IA; six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles “Barney” Christman; one son, Ronald Harbeck; one daughter, Donna “Kathy” McHugh; one brother, Arnold Robinson and wife Ardith; and one sister, Carol Conlon and husband Pat.
